Nomogram for Obtaining Z-Test Statistic from Kendall's S and Sample Size 10 To 50Department of Sociology Wayne State University Kendall's S is often used for measuring the magnitude of bivariate association in social and behavioral research. The nomogram described and reproduced here permits a research analyst to make rapid and accurate evaluation of the statistical significance of S without recourse to formulae or computations in all except borderline cases, and it provides an easily-understood display of relationships between measure of association, sample size, and test statistic that is useful for teaching and for explaining research design and findings to consumers of social and behavioral research.
