The Relative Difficulty Ratioa Test and Item IndexMeasurement and Research Division Office of Instructional Resources University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign The Relative Difficulty Ratio (RDR) was developed as an index of test or item difficulty for use in situations in which raw score means or item p-values are not directly comparable because of chance score differences. Computational RDR are described. Data from the literature are used to illustrate applications of the RDR at both the test and item level.
