Aggregating Scores: To Standardize or Not to Standardize?University of Western Ontario
University of Western Ontario This paper demonstrates that although aggregated standard scores can correlate substantially with aggregated raw scores, their correlations with an external criterion can differ markedly. This will occur when the variances of the components differ and these differences are related to the correlations of the components with the criterion.
