Reevaluating the Factor Structure of the Revised California Psychological InventoryKent State University
Kent State University The result of a hierarchical factor analysis of the intercorrelations among the CPI-R folk scales showed a strong general profile elevation factor for both men and women. The emergence of the general factor is noteworthy because it provides an empirical basis for interpreting the overall CPI/CPI-R profile elevation as a measure of personal adjustment. This practice is well entrenched in the clinical literature on CPI interpretation but it has not been previously supported through factor analytic research.
