Development and Factor Analysis of the Student Resistance to Schooling InventoryAmerican College Testing The purpose of this study was to develop an instrument measuring high school student resistance to schooling and investigate the factorial validity of the instrument. A 47-item instrument, Student Resistance to Schooling Inventory (SRSI), was constructed. The instrument was administered to 646 high school students in ametropolitan school district in the Midwest. A factor analysis employing principal components extraction procedures with oblique rotation was used to examine the construct validity of the SRSI. The factor analysis and instrument modification resulted in a 25-item instrument for measuring student resistance to schooling.
