The Relation between the Structure of Temperament Questionnaire and Other Personality Domains

Levent Dumenci

Iowa State University

The relation between temperament and five dimensions of personality was investigated. Correlations between the Structure of Temperament Questionnaire (STQ) and the NEO-Personality Inventory (NEO-PI) indicated that only two emotionality scales of the STQ were highly correlated with the six facets of the Extroversion scale of the NEO-PI. By means of a two-factor solution of STQ items, a new instrument was constructed. When correlated with the NEO-PI scales, the new instrument converged to the personality domains of Neuroticism and Extraversion.
